Choosing My Genre
I decided to take to twitter and ask my friends what music genre I should do my magazine on, here is what happened.
Adobe Photoshop
During the past few weeks we have been learning how to use several Adobe products which will help make our magazine look professional and efficient. The first editing software we were taught how to learn was Adobe Photoshop, we used the CS4 edition, which isn't the latest available but is easiest to use for beginners like myself. Adobe Photoshop is the photoshop software which is used right across the magazine industry and with 100% of what we see in fashion magazines now being retouched, the software will be an important tool in helping our magazine look as professional as possible.
One of the first tools we learnt how to use was the
'The Spot Healing Brush'.
It can be found by clicking on the icon, which looks like a plaster. If you make your tool size slightly larger than the blemish you want to zap and then click the blemish. Then the amazingly clever Photoshop blends the area you clicked with the surrounding pixels. This tool will be useful when we are creating our Magazine front covers and double page spread.

our photo, the tool can be found under the filter tab at the top of the page. This is going to be useful when wanting to make our cover model more attractive, giving them some extra glow or when wanting to give them a bit of a tan.
The last feature we used was the 'The Clone Stamp',the icon where you can find this tool looks like an old-fashioned rubber stamp. This tool is so useful and can be used for many different things, because instead of blending pixels together, it copies part of an image to another spot. This means you can make two of something in a image, or restore a old family picture or even completely remove something from a picture. This will be useful when I making my magazine to make my pictures more interesting.
Photoshop is such a professional programme, which made me really struggle with getting my head around all the new tools and features available to me. When you become so used to a certain type of layout, such as the microsoft office programmes it is hard to adapt to something more complex. I had to practice the basics, such as opening a new picture and creating layers on a picture, but practising is going to really help my magazine look very smart and professional.
Questionnaire
Please could you take part in my Music Magazine Questionnaire.
There are several questions all about Music Magazines and I will hopefully be using your answers to help contribute to my Music Magazine.
Even if Music Magazines aren't your thing, please fill out the questionnaire as your answers are just as useful as people who do read them.
Thank you in advance.

A Website I Frequently Use
YouTube is a website I frequently use. I enjoy using it because there is so many different types of content available to watch or listen too. When I use the computer I always have YouTube open on a tab because its such a easy way to listen to a variety of music for free. I subscribe to people on YouTube and watch there videos whenever they post them, the people I subscribe to variety to people who make daily vlogs, to people who make short films. Two people who make amazing YouTube content are Devin SuperTramp and Casey Neistat.
A Video Game I Enjoy Playing
I don't really play video games that often, but when I do I will play Fifa. I enjoy playing it because it has a two player option so I can play with my brother, football is also my favourite sport so I find it enjoyable.
A Movie Trailer I Enjoyed Watching
I enjoyed watching the trailer for The Internship because it has two of my favourite actors in and I laughed the whole way through it. The trailer is suitable for the genre of the movie and it is clear that the movie is a comedy. I also enjoyed watching the trailer as it gave me high hopes for the movie, if the trailer can make you laugh out loud, I am sure the movie can make you laugh twice as loud.
A Music Video I Enjoy Watching
I enjoy watching the All Around The World music video, this is because it shows footage taken from different countries and shows from all around the world. It is edited and filmed by one of my favourite directors Alfredo Flores, his work is always so well edited and creative. I also really love the song, so I love replaying the video.
Introduction
Who Am I?
I am Olivia and this
is my blog. I have just started sixth after achieving the GCSE results I had
hoped for in August. I am excited to start school again because I love
learning.
Why I Have Chosen
To Study Media?
I would like to study
Media as it is a subject I have always been interested in and maybe would like
to pursue a future career in. Film studies is a possible university course I
would like to go on to study, so I researched suitable A Level courses and the
two link hand and hand.
How you’d like to
Use the Subject In The Future?
I am undecided what I
want to do when I leave sixth form, but I defiantly want to carry on my
education. I have always been interested in Media and editing films is one of
my hobbies, so when I researched possible university courses I found Film Studies
would be a great course for me. When I was looking at the Film Studies course,
it said that Media Studies is a A Level they would like you to have so this
subject could be vital in my future.
